7 Days / 6 Nights Arts, Culture and Food Tour

This tour celebrates the diverse and traditional arts and culture of Benin. We will see locally made arts, experience the many different musical traditions of Benin, and eat local foods and drinks.

Day 1 Cotonou

After welcome drinks, you will enjoy a unique tour of the largest city in Benin. Dinner is in a local restaurant.

Day 2 Cotonou – Porto Novo

After breakfast, we will drive to Porto Novo for a visit with Kouas, the most famous artist in Benin, to discuss his work and the modern art scene in Benin and West Africa.

Lunch will be served in Adjarra, at a local restaurant to enjoy the local food. We will go to the Adjarra museum, famous for its unique collection of masks and other antique African arts. We will visit the drum market to see where and how the drums are made.

Back in Porto Novo for the evening, you will enjoy a night show with local music of Porto Novo.

Day 3 Porto Novo – Ketou

On the way to Ketou, We will stop in Sakete for a Guelede music show.

When we arrive in Ketou we will stop for lunch before visiting the Royal Palace and the Magic Gate.

We will enjoy a cultural music performance by Egoun goun and have dinner in a local restaurant. In Ketou, we will stay the night at the Résidence Celine Hotels.

Day 4 Ketou – Taneka

In the morning we depart for Taneka in the North of Benin. It is a scenic 6-hour drive, where you will see the tropical beach landscape gradually fade into the northern savannah. On the way, we will have a stop in Bassila for lunch.

After arriving at Taneka Village, we will have a welcome drink with the people of the village and tour the local surrounfings. In the evening with dinner we will enjoy a traditional music and dance show and listen to the history of the Taneka people. We will stay overnight in Taneka’s rustic Koko hotel.

Day 5 Taneka – – Boukombe- Natitingou

In the morning we Visit a Tata Somba village, famous for its unique and picturesque.

The Tammari people will give us a special show with its traditional music. After lunch we will depart to Natitingou and visit the Kota waterfall for a refreshing dive in the secluded pool.

Dinner will be served in a local restaurant where we will stay overnight in Natitingou.

Day 6 Natitingou – Ouidah

Today we return southwards to Ouidah. Ouidah is the touristic city of Benin it was the slavery market and the slave store place. Till nowadays you can see the sign of the slavery trade and all the step of the system. It is also in this city voodoo festival is celebrated.

In Azove, we will visit the market and Kinkinhoue historic museum. We will arrive in Ouidah late afternoon. In the evening we’ll visit the sacred forest and learn about the tradition of voodoo, from the Voodoo chief of Ouidah.

Day 7 Ouidah – Cotonou

After breakfast we depart to Cotonou. On the way we will visit the bustling Dantokpa market, where you can find special souvenirs. Nearby, we will also visit the arts market, “Hall des Arts” where they sell traditional and contemporary art, clothes, and sculptures made by local artists .

To end the tour, we will enjoy lunch and swimming at the scenic private beach of Hotel El Dorado Beach Club.
